Sebastian Vettel has claimed pole position for Ferrari for the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix, with Kimi Raikkonen making it a Ferrari 1-2. The two Mercedes drivers of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton follow in third and fourth respectively.

Paul di Resta, who substituted for Felipe Massa in the Williams after he felt unwell, managed to qualify above the Sauber of Marcus Ericsson, which is fairly impressive considering he was called in at the last minute, having not driven a Formula 1 car in an official event since the 2013 Brazilian Grand Prix. Unusually during qualifying, neither Force India driver made it into Q3, and, for only the second time this season, Esteban Ocon managed to outqualify Sergio Perez.
