Round-up:
In Saturday's early kick-off, Manchester City delivered a statement of intent, thrashing Liverpool 5-0. Sergio Aguero gave the home side the lead with a cool finish having rounded the goalkeeper. The key turning point came just before half-time, where Sadio Mane got sent-off for Liverpool after a quite reckless challenge on goalkeeper Ederson who was fortunate not to have suffered worse injuries. Gabriel Jesus then scored a brace, and then Leroy Sane scored a brace of his own.
Arsenal earned a timely second win of the season, beating AFC Bournemouth 3-0, with Danny Welbeck scoring a brace and Alexandre Lacazette scoring another. Brighton & Hove Albion scored their first goals in the Premier League to earn their first win of the season, beating West Bromwich Albion 3-1 thanks to goals from Pascal Gross (2) and Tomer Hemed, with James Morrison scoring a mere consolation. Tottenham Hotspur beat Everton 3-0 away from home, with Harry Kane getting on the scoresheet for the first time this season, scoring 2 with Christian Eriksen scoring the other. Chelsea have firmly put their defeat to Burnley on the opening day of the season behind them, after beating Leicester 2-1 at the King Power Stadium, with goals coming from N'Golo Kante and Alvaro Morata, Jamie Vardy scored a penalty for consolation. Watford won again on their travels, beating Southampton 2-0 with goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Daryl Janmaat.
In Saturday's late kick-off, Manchester United's 100% start to the season ended after drawing 2-2 away to Stoke City. Maxim Choupo-Moting gave the home side the lead 2 minutes before half-time before Marcus Rashford equalised right on the stroke of half-time. Romelu Lukaku gave Manchester United the lead in the 57th minute before Choupo-Moting equalised for Stoke City 6 minutes later.
In Sunday's lunchtime kick-off, Burnley beat a struggling Crystal Palace side 1-0 thanks to a goal in just the 3rd minute from Chris Wood after an inexplicable square pass by Chung-Yong Lee, that said, Palace had several chances to score but didn't. It means that Crystal Palace are still without a point or a goal, and after this result, they are also without a manager after Frank de Boer was sacked just under 24 hours later. Meanwhile, Newcastle United made it back-to-back wins thanks to a goal from Jamaal Lascelles to beat Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Finally, to round off the weekend, West Ham United eased the pressure on their boss Slaven Bilic after beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the Olympic Stadium, with goals coming from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew.
