Lewis Hamilton has claimed pole position at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for the race, with team-mate Valtteri Bottas completing the front row to make it a Mercedes 1-2, with the former . Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen will start in third and fourth respectively, with the Ferrari drivers ironically setting their best times on the soft tyres during Q3, which is not the theoretically fastest tyre on offer this weekend. The two Red Bull drivers of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo will follow in fifth and sixth respectively. Brendon Hartley did not take part during qualifying for Toro Rosso after suffering a huge accident during Final Practice which caused severe damage to the car, but he is fortunately OK to race tomorrow.
All the drivers of the top 3 drivers (Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull) will start tomorrow's race on the soft tyres (the middle-ranged tyre, with moderate grip and wear (with Formula 1 tyres, grip and wear are directly related, at the expense of durability)). However, it is being mentioned that there is a possibility of rain for tomorrow's race, which would certainly make for an interesting race.
