Lewis Hamilton has claimed pole position for the 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix in what was a wet qualifying session, after he did a supreme lap at the end of Q3, beating Valtteri Bottas by just over a quarter of a second, on a track where Mercedes on paper certainly had the second best car. The team who were arguably the favourites, Ferrari, ended up with their drivers in third and fourth, with Kimi Raikkonen qualifying ahead of Sebastian Vettel. Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull, in what was certainly a surprise, failed to get out of Q2 after getting unlucky with the timing of the rain, however, it was also very surprising that his team-mate Max Verstappen qualified in seventh place.
