Round-up:
The Sky Bet League 2 season got underway today, and it certainly could not have gone any better if you are a Crewe Alexandra fan, who hammered Morecambe 6-0 to top the early-season table (if you give it any significance at this stage). Forest Green Rovers also got off to a great start, coming from behind to beat Grimsby Town 4-1.
Relegated side Milton Keynes Dons got their League 2 campaign off to an ideal start, winning 2-1 away to fellow relegated side Oldham Athletic. Relegated Bury also got off to a winning start, winning 1-0 at home to 9-man Yeovil Town. However, things did not go so well for the other relegated side Northampton Town, who fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Lincoln City.
Promoted side Tranmere Rovers earned a point on their return to the EFL, coming from two goals down away to Stevenage to draw 2-2. Macclesfield Town produced a spirited display, and led till the 96th minute, but were cruelly denied thanks to 2 very late penalties from Swindon Town.
The only goalless draw was between Notts County and Colchester United. Mansfield Town and Port Vale both opened their seasons with 3-0 victories over Newport County and Cambridge United respectively, whilst beaten play-off finalists from last season Exeter City also opened their season with 3 goals, beating Carlisle United by 3 goals to one, whilst Crawley Town also began with a win, beating Cheltenham Town by a goal to nil.
