EFL round-up: League 1 and League 2

League 1

Leaders Portsmouth suffered their second consecutive defeat, after losing 2-1 against struggling Oxford United - who moved out of the relegation zone with victory. Second-placed Luton took full advantage of Portsmouth slipping up, beating play-off contenders Peterborough United 4-0, making it 15 successive unbeaten matches for the Hatters. An added bonus as far as Luton are concerned was the fact that third-placed Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw away to Scunthorpe United. Charlton Athletic claimed a slender 1-0 win at home to Accrington Stanley, whilst fifth-placed Barnsley winning 4-1 away to struggling AFC Wimbledon.

Doncaster Rovers failed to take advantage of Peterborough United's defeat, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Burton Albion, which denied them the chance to move into the play-off places. Blackpool were held to a goalless draw by Shrewsbury Town. Down at the bottom end of the table, Bradford City suffered a 4-0 hammering at home to Southend United, whilst Plymouth Argyle made it 3 consecutive wins after claiming a 2-1 victory over Coventry City. Bristol Rovers slipped into the relegation zone after losing 1-0 at home to Wycombe Wanderers. Elsewhere, Walsall won 3-0 away to Gillingham, and Rochdale were held to a 1-1 draw by Fleetwood Town.

Leaders Lincoln City claimed local bragging rights in the Lincolnshire derby after edging Grimsby Town 1-0. Second-placed Bury made it four successive wins after coming from behind to beat Forest Green Rovers. Mansfield Town beat fellow promotion contenders Colchester United by 3 goals to 2. The big losers of the top 5 sides were MK Dons, who lost for the second successive week, this time 1-0 at home to Crewe Alexandra. Carlisle United made it 5 wins from their last 6 after beating Cheltenham Town 2-0.

Newport County ended a run of 6 games without a victory after beating Exeter City 1-0. Stevenage claimed a 2-1 victory over struggling Morecambe, whilst Macclesfield Town under the management of Sol Campbell made it back-to-back wins after coming from behind to beat Oldham Athletic 2-1, whilst fellow strugglers Yeovil Town also made it successive victories after winning 2-0 at home to bottom side Notts County.

Elsewhere, Swindon Town won 2-1 away to promoted Tranmere Rovers, whilst Port Vale claimed a 1-0 win away at Crawley Town. Cambridge United gave their survival prospects a boost after beating Northampton Town 3-2.
