On the opening night of Round 4 of the FA Cup, Manchester United made it eight consecutive victories in all competitions, and 8 wins out of 8 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after beating the FA Cup's most successful side, Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. Alexis Sanchez returned to the Emirates, just over a year after making his move from London to Manchester, and scored the opening goal for Manchester United with a composed finish after rounding goalkeeper Petr Cech. Jesse Lingard doubled the lead just 2 minutes later with a lovely finish in the bottom corner. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did pull a goal back for Arsenal in the 43rd minute. Laurent Koscielny suffered an injury after inadvertently getting kicked in the head by Lukaku's boot, after fellow defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos also suffered an injury earlier on. Anthony Martial wrapped up the win in the 82nd minute after an incisive counter-attacking move by United, after Paul Pogba had a shot saved by Cech, Martial went on to convert the rebound.
In the other match which took place tonight, Bristol City advanced to Round 5 for the first time since the 2000-01 season after coming from behind to beat fellow Championship side Bolton Wanderers, who took the lead after just 6 minutes with a goal from defender Mark Beevers. Irishman Callum O'Dowda equalised for Bristol City just 2 minutes later, whilst Niclas Eliasson sealed the win with a top-quality goal. Chelsea loanee Kasey Palmer also hit the post from a free kick.
