Ferrari's Charles Leclerc has qualified on pole position for the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix, with Lewis Hamilton qualifying on the front row for Mercedes. However, Hamilton was given a 3-place grid penalty for impeding Kimi Raikkonen during the first part of qualifying. Max Verstappen qualified in third for Red Bull, his best qualifying of the season, whilst Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas qualified in fourth. Sebastian Vettel failed to set a laptime during the final part of qualifying as it is understood that he suffered a problem with the air pressure line to his engine.
