Round-up: The second weekend of Bundesliga action kicked off with last season's runners-up Borussia Dortmund travelling to newly-promoted 1.FC Koln on Friday night, with the former prevailing 3-1 in the end, but Koln gave them a big run for their money. It was the promoted side, who rather surprisingly, took the lead as Dominick Drexler scored in the 29th minute. Dortmund tried incredibly hard to get back in the game, and eventually found the equaliser thanks to England wonderkid Jadon Sancho in the 70th minute. Despite that setback for the hosts, it looked like they might earn their first point on their return to the Bundesliga, until four minutes from time Achraf Hakimi, on as a substitute, popped up to score a late winner for Dortmund, and with Koln pushing to try get an equaliser, Dortmund ruthlessly broke forward on the counter attack, and Sancho unselfishly laid off the ball to striker Paco Alcacer who wrapped up a 3-1 win which extended their 100% start to the season, whilst Koln remain without a point themselves. Newly-promoted 1.FC Union Berlin earned their first point in the Bundesliga as Sebastian Andersson levelled ten minutes from time after Ruben Vargas had given Augsburg the lead, and the promoted side held on despite going down to ten men with seven minutes to go as Keven Schlotterback saw red. After an impressive opening day victory away to Werder Bremen, it was back down to earth for Fortuna Dusseldorf, who suffered a humbling 3-1 defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen who themselves have extended their 100% start to the season. They took the lead in the sixth minute thanks to a Lewis Baker own goal, before Charles Aranguiz doubled their lead, with Karim Bellarabi scoring six minutes later - with Alfredo Morales grabbing a consolation goal for the hosts. Marco Rose grabbed his first win as manager of Borussia Monchengladbach, as they came from behind to win 3-1 away to Mainz 05 thanks to goals from Stefan Lainer, Alassane Plea and Breel Embolo. Freiburg extended their 100% start to the season as they too came from behind to win 3-1, against newly-promoted SC Paderborn 07. Hoffenheim bounced back from their opening defeat with a 3-2 victory over Werder Bremen. Niclas Fullkrug gave Werder Bremen the lead, before two goals in the space of around six minutes from Ermin Bicakcic and Ihlas Bebou swung the match in Hoffehnheim's favour. It looked like Yuya Osako's 81st minute goal would be enough to earn Werder Bremen a point, before Pavel Kaderabek scored the winner for Hoffenheim 3 minutes from time.
In the Saturday evening kick-off, Bayern Munich earned themselves their first win of the season, as they comfortably beat Schalke 04 away from home by 3 goals to nil. Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern the lead in the 20th minute from the penalty spot, before scoring a brace in the second half to seal a hat-trick, meaning that so far this season Lewandowski has been the only scorer in the Bundesliga for Bayern.
