Round-up: The Bundesliga action began with the customary Friday night fixture, as Mainz 05 came from behind to win at home to newly-promoted 1.FC Köln. The away side took the lead after only 14 minutes thanks to a goal from Simon Terodde, before the lead was cancelled out just 7 minutes later thanks to Jean-Paul Boetius' goal. Two goals in the second half from Robin Quaison and Levin Oztunali proved decisive, as they helped the hosts to record a 3-1 victory. Today's action saw Bayern Munich record a second successive victory, as they edged to a 2-1 victory at home to promoted side 1.FC Union Berlin thanks to goals from Benjamin Pavard and Robert Lewandowski, with Sebastian Polter grabbing a scant consolation in the 86th minute via the penalty spot. The other promoted team, SC Paderborn 07, were in action today as they recorded their first win of the season in a 2-0 triumph at home to Fortuna Düsseldorf thanks to goals from Abdelhamid Sabiri and Sebastian Schonlau. SC Freiburg continued their impressive start to this year's campaign, as they won 2-1 at home to RB Leipzig thanks to goals from Nicolas Hoffer and Nils Petersen at the end of each half, with Lukas Klostermann scoring a scant consolation in the 90th minute for Leipzig. Hoffenheim recorded their third successive victory, despite blowing away a two-goal lead away at Hertha Berlin. The away side built that 2-goal cushion thanks to first half goals from Jurgen Locadia and Andrej Kramaric, before that was wiped out after second half goals from Dodi Lukebakio and Salomon Kalou. The standout match played today was the Dortmund derby involving Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund, and ultimately neither side could claim local bragging rights as they played out a goalless draw. Finally, today's action concluded with an evening kick-off, as Bayer Leverkusen hosted Werder Bremen in a match where neither side could ultimately be separated. The hosts took the lead after just 4 minutes thanks to an own goal from Omer Toprak. That lead was cancelled out five minutes before half-time thanks to Milot Rashica's goal, before Werder Bremen took the lead themselves thanks to a goal from former Everton man Davy Klaassen only 3 minutes into the second half. The hosts then equalised ten minutes later thanks to a goal from Lucas Alario, and neither side was then able to score a fifth goal of the match and thus the two sides had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
