Tom Lawrence, who is seen here celebrating with Martyn Waghorn, helped guide Derby to a winning start.

Results: Sunday Bristol City 1 Leeds United 3 Monday Huddersfield Town 1 Derby County 2 Round-up: In the first of the two remaining Championship fixtures following those played on Friday and Saturday, last season's play-off semi-finalists Leeds United put memories of last season's disappointments firmly behind them as they cruised to an impressive 3-1 victory away to one of the fancied sides in pre-season, Bristol City, with goals coming from Pablo Hernandez, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison - before Andreas Weimann grabbed a consolation goal for the Robins, in a result which takes Leeds to the top of the Championship at the end of the first weekend of the season. In Monday's match, Derby County, who are now under the management of former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona defender (as well as former PSV manager) Phillip Cocu, ensured that all teams relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season got off to a losing start, as they beat Huddersfield Town 2-1 away from home thanks to a brilliant brace from Welshman Tom Lawrence, and despite Karlan Grant scoring from the penalty spot for the Terriers, it was not enough to prevent Cocu's Derby from getting off to a winning start. Can Derby this season go one better than last year and actually seal that long coveted promotion back to the Premier League? Only time will tell, but tonight was certainly a good start en route to try achieve the goal.
