Round-up:

The EFL Championship's third weekend of the season began with a Friday night fixture between two teams relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, Huddersfield Town and Fulham, with the latter coming out on top in a 2-1 victory which has only piled further pressure on the Terriers (and most particularly their manager Jan Siewert), who have taken only one point from 3 games this season and have only one league win this calendar year. After a goalless first half, Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic gave Fulham the lead after a terribly miscued clearance from Huddersfield's Juninho Bacuna. Somewhat against the run of play, Huddersfield did equalise 6 minutes later through striker Karlan Grant, who has so far scored all 3 of the Terriers' goals this season (2 of which came from the penalty spot), as he headed home a cross from Florent Hadergjonaj. It was not enough however, to give Huddersfield a point, as, 10 minutes from time Wolves loanee Ivan Cavaleiro scored the winning goal for Fulham with a superb goal from just outside the penalty area. This result was very costly for manager Jan Siewert, who was sacked having won just one of his 19 competitive games in charge of Huddersfield. After week 3 of the season, no team in the League still possesses a 100% record, as Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Millwall after a goal from Matt Smith, despite the Lions playing with 10 men for a whole half. It has been an impressive start to the season for Millwall, having so far won 2 games and drawn one. The other team who boasted a 100% record going into today, Charlton Athletic, rescued a point with an 89th minute penalty from Lyle Taylor after Barnsley had led twice. There were several teams who finally earned their first win, namely Bristol City who won 2-0 at home to Queens Park Rangers thanks to a goals from Adam Nagy and Benik Afobe. Also getting their first win of the season were Nottingham Forest, under the management of Sabri Lamouchi, and in impressive fashion too as they beat Birmingham City 3-0 thanks to goals from Joe Lolley, Lewis Grabban and Michael Dawson. One other team got their first win of the season today, as Blackburn Rovers claimed a slender 1-0 win at home to Middlesbrough thanks to a Danny Graham penalty. Leeds United leaped back to the top of the table after they won 2-0 away to Wigan Athletic, who played for over an hour with 10 men, thanks to a brace from Patrick Bamford. It looked like Stoke City were possibly going to earn their first win of the season after they came from behind to lead against Derby County, however a 70th minute penalty by Martyn Waghorn ensured a share of the spoils for both sides, and ensured Stoke City's winless run would go on just that little bit longer. Swansea City have also made an impressive start to the season, claiming their second win of the season after coming from behind to beat Preston North End 3-2 thanks to a brace from Borja Baston and a goal from George Byers. It's been a somewhat disappointing start to the season for Luton Town, who after drawing their opening game against Middlesbrough, have lost their next two league games, this time losing 2-1 at home to West Bromwich Albion despite having led. Harry Cornick scored the opening goal of the game for the hosts, before the match turned into the Grady Diangana show, as the Portugues scored a brace to give the Baggies the win. Elsewhere, Brentford and Hull City played out a 1-1 draw with Olli Watkins' strike cancelling out Jarrod Bowen's opener for the Tigers.

In Sunday's match, Reading ensured that every team in the League now has at least got a point, after they convincingly beat Cardiff City 3-0 thanks to a brace from George Puscas, a reported £8m signing from Inter Milan, with John Swift wrapping up the scoring for the Royals six minutes from time. Reading did have a late opportunity to make it an even more resounding victory, as they were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute after Andy Yiadom was foulled in the penalty area, but Yakou Meite saw the resulting spot kick saved by Cardiff goalkeeper Alex Smithies.
