Round-up: The Championship's midweek action began on Tuesday, with the most notable clash arguably coming in the North West, as Preston North End hosted Leeds United. In the end, neither of the sides could be separated, as Eddie Nketiah stepped off the bench to salvage a point for Leeds thanks to his 87th minute strike which cancelled out Tom Barkhuizen's goal 13 minutes earlier. Arguably the biggest shock result of the night came in South Wales, as high-flying Swansea City suffered a 3-0 humbling at home to Brentford, who have now recorded back-to-back wins thanks to goals from Said Benrahma, an own goal from ex-player Jake Bidwell and Bryan Mbeumo. Sheffield Wednesday climbed five place up the league table to third, as they recorded a slender 1-0 triumph at home to Stoke City, who remain in the relegation zone, thanks to a 43rd minute goal from Massimo Luongo. However, things did not go as well for league leaders West Bromwich Albion, who had to come back from 2 goals down to rescue a point at home to bottom side Barnsley, as an own goal from Bambo Diaby followed by a goal from Matheus Pereira nine minutes from time, cancelled out Cauley Woodrow's first half brace for the away side. As for teams coming back to rescue points, Millwall twice came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Cardiff City. Tom Bradshaw bagged a brace for the hosts, which cancelled out goals from Danny Ward and Junior Hoilett. Another team who twice came from behind to draw were Reading who did so away to promotion play-off side Queens Park Rangers. Nahki Wells gave the hosts the lead in the 29th minute, though that lead lasted a mere 2 minutes as George Puscas levelled the scoring. The hosts then restored their lead thanks to a 58th minute goal from striker Jordan Hugill, before Sam Baldock scored a second equaliser for Reading which helped give them a point. Meanwhile, Birmingham City secured a second successive home victory, as they recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers thanks to a goal from Maxime Colin.

The standout result of tonight's action arguably came in the East Midlands, as Nottingham Forest suffered a second successive defeat, this time at home to Hull City, despite the fact that the away side were reduced to 10 men for the last 25 minutes, as goalscorer Josh Magennis was shown a straight red card. Jarrod Bowen added to Magennis' 38th minute strike which put Hull in front, before Matt Cash scored what proved to be a mere consolation for the hosts. In a football match, one thing to never do is give up, and this certainly applied for Bristol City, who scored a 98th minute goal to win at home to Charlton Athletic, despite being reduced to 10 men for the last 10 minutes or so. After a goalless first half, Macauley Bonne scored a 65th minute goal to give Charlton the lead, before that was cancelled out 10 minutes later as Famara Diedhiou equalised for Bristol. Diedhiou was then sent off with 4 minutes of normal time remaining, however, against all the odds Bristol went on to win the game thanks to Josh Brownhill's 98th minute winner. In another game which involved a late goal, Derby County earned a much-needed victory at home to Wigan Athletic thanks to a 92nd minute goal from Graeme Shinnie. Meanwhile, Fulham bounced back from their disappointing defeat away to Stoke City at the weekend by recording a 3-2 triumph at home to Luton Town, thanks in no small part to a hat-trick from Aleksandar Mitrovic. Finally, struggling sides Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough played out a goalless draw, in a result which keeps the former in the relegation zone.
