Round-up: The EFL Championship action began today with a keenly-anticipated fixture, as Derby County hosted Nottingham Forest in the East Midlands derby. Nottingham Forest took the lead after less than 15 minutes thanks to a goal from Joe Lolley, and it looked as though they were going to take all three points, until Chris Martin scored a 95th minute equaliser to salvage a point for the hosts, despite the fact that Derby were reduced to 10 men only minutes earlier as Martyn Waghorn was shown a straight red card, in a result which does neither team any real favours. In the later kick-offs, league leaders Leeds United kept up their push towards promotion to the Premier League, as they recorded a 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers, thanks to goals from Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich, with Adam Armstrong bagging the solitary goal Blackburn Rovers scored. Brentford kept up their push for an automatic promotion place with a brilliant 3-0 win thanks to a Said Benrahma hat-trick, at home to a Wigan Athletic side who were reduced to 10 men as Joe Garner was sent off, and earlier this week were put into administration. Fulham kept their hopes of automatic promotion alive thanks to a vital 90th minute goal from Josh Onomah, which gave them a 1-0 win at home to Birmingham City. Cardiff City strengthened their grip on the final promotion play-off place, taking advantage of Derby County's draw at home to Nottingham Forest, as they recorded a 1-0 win away to out-of-form Bristol City thanks to a Danny Ward strike 5 minutes from time. Stoke City earned a vital win in their battle to avoid relegation, as they won 4-0 at home to fellow strugglers Barnsley thanks to a Tyrese Campbell brace, coupled by goals from Sam Vokes and Tom Ince. As for Luton Town, it is safe to say that their hopes of avoiding relegation took a massive dent, as they suffered a 5-0 humiliation at home to Reading, thanks to four goals from Yakou Meite, in addition to a George Puscas goal. Meanwhile, Hudersfield Town and Preston North End played out a goalless draw in a result which does neither team any favours.
