Round-up: The EFL Championship's weekend concluded with two matches today, both of which kicked off simultaneously with significance both at the top and bottom of the table. Down at the bottom, Stoke City bounced back from their hammering at league leaders Leeds United on Thursday to record a vital 2-0 win at home to Birmingham City, who themselves are by no means safe from relegation yet, with both goals coming in the first half through Danny Batth and Sam Clucas. As a result, Stoke City have opened up a four-point gap to third-bottom Hull City and have also leapfrogged opponents Birmingham City by virtue of superior goal difference. Meanwhile, at the top of the table, Swansea City, looking to leapfrog sixth-placed Cardiff City, hosted league leaders Leeds United who were looking to open up a 3-point gap to second-placed West Bromwich Albion and restore their six-point advantage to Brentford who are in third. It seemed as though the sides were going to have to settle for a share of the spoils, until Pablo Hernandez struck in the 89th minute to give Leeds a crucial 1-0 victory which means that they need a maximum of 4 points from their remaining 3 games to seal promotion to the Premier League, and they could even seal promotion with a point were Brentford to lose on Wednesday.
