Round-up: The League 1 action began with a rare Friday night match, as Blackpool inflicted a fourth defeat in five games on Lincoln City, who it is fair to say have struggled since the loss of manager Danny Cowley who departed to take charge of Huddersfield Town. Sean Scannell gave Blackpool the lead after just 11 minutes, before they doubled it a mere 10 minutes later thanks to Jordan Thompson. However, it took Lincoln only 3 minutes to respond as they got themselves back into the game thanks to Jack Payne. Despite having the majority of possession and chances, Lincoln City could not find an equaliser and thus Payne's goal was ultimately insufficient as Blackpool held on to win 2-1. In Saturday's action, Ipswich Town retained their place at the top of the table as they recorded an impressive 4-1 win over Tranmere Rovers, as a result of goals from Luke Garbutt, Kayden Jackson, Jon Nolan and Kane Vincent-Young. Wycombe Wanderers kept up the pressure on Ipswich as they registered a comfortable 3-0 win away to Rochdale thanks to a brace from Fred Onyedima which was sandwiched by an Adebayo Akinfenwa strike. However Coventry City slipped up as they salvaged a late point in a 1-1 draw by Doncaster Rovers thanks to Amadou Bakayoko's 89th minute which cancelled out Ben Whiteman's 41st minute strike which had put Doncaster ahead. As a result of Coventry's failure to win, Fleetwood Town moved into 3rd place as they triumphed 3-0 away at Shrewsbury Town thanks to an own goal from Callum Lang followed by goals from Josh Morris and Paddy Madden. Sunderland returned to winning ways as they won 2-1 at home to Milton Keynes Dons thanks to goals from Max Power and Luke O'Nien, whilst George Williams scored what proved to be a mere consolation for MK Dons. Peterborough United successfully bounced back from the defeat they suffered away to Doncaster Rovers last week as they won 3-2 at home to struggling AFC Wimbledon thanks to a Mohamed Eisa brace which followed on from a Marcus Maddison strike. Meanwhile, Portsmouth recorded only their second win of the season - and their first since the early part of August - as they narrowly beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 thanks to a goal from Brett Pitman, who atoned for his earlier missed penalty. The other team currently in the League 1 relegation zone, Southend United failed to follow up their first victory of the season which they registered last week, as they fell to a slender 1-0 defeat at home to Accrington Stanley thanks to a goal from Colby Bishop, and in addition, Southend went down to 10 men as Nathan Ralph received two yellow cards. After they recorded a remarkable 6-0 win last week away to Lincoln, Oxford United followed that up by recording their second successive victory as they won 3-0 at home to Gillingham thanks to a James Henry brace which was sandwiched by a Matt Taylor strike. Finally, Bristol Rovers recorded their second successive league win as they recorded a slender 1-0 triumph at home to Rotherham United thanks to Jonson Clarke-Harris which consequently enabled the home side to move up tino seventh place in the league.
