Round-up: The action in League 1 began this weekend with two fixtures unusually being played on Friday night, as Lincoln City hosted Shrewsbury Town in a match which ended goalless. Meanwhile, the other match played on Friday night saw Tranmere Rovers requiring a penalty in the 85th minute which was converted by Paul Mullin to salvage them a point after Southend had taken a 9th minute lead thanks to Tom Hopper's goal. Saturday's action saw Phil Parkinson take charge of his first match as Sunderland manager, but this did not bring about an upturn in results, as they suffered a slender 1-0 defeat away to second-placed Wycombe Wanderers thanks to a 29th minute goal from Darius Charles. Peterborough United moved up into third place, as they recorded a 2-1 victory away to Gillingham, thanks to goals from Joe Ward and Mo Eisa from the penalty spot, with Mikael Mandron scoring a scant consolation for the hosts. Fleetwood Town bounced back from their defeat at home to Ipswich a fortnight ago in the best fashion imaginable, as they recorded a 4-1 victory at home to Burton Albion thanks to a Paddy Madden hat-trick after Oliver Sarkic had cancelled out Ched Evans' earlier strike which had put the hosts in front. Oxford United maintained their impressive start to the season as they recorded a 2-1 win away to Rotherham United thanks to goals from Tariqe Fosu and Matt Taylor. Although they have made an impressive start to the season, Bristol Rovers suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Doncaster Rovers thanks to goals from Kieran Sadlier and Jon Taylor, after Bristol Rovers' Tom Nichols saw his extremely poor penalty saved by Doncaster goalkeeper Seny Dieng. Meanwhile, it seems as though Coventry City have forgotten the definition of the word score, as they failed to do so for the third successive league match after they were held to a goalless draw by Milton Keynes Dons, in a match where Coventry's Jordy Hiwula also had a penalty saved. If Coventry's recent form has been poor, the same cannot be said for AFC Wimbledon, as they recorded a third successive victory having previously been winless all season, thanks to a 90th minute goal from Terell Thomas which gave them a 1-0 win at home to Portsmouth, who it is fair to say have made a disappointing start to the season. It is fair to say that 2019 has been an extremely tough year for Bolton Wanderers, although at least the fixture does look a bit more positive for them thankfully, however, their chances of avoiding relegation to League 2 this season were not aided as Rochdale came from behind to beat them 3-1 thanks to goals from Callum Camps, Oliver Rathbone and Fabio Tavares, after Thibaud Verlinden had given Bolton the lead. Finally, the weekend action concluded as Accrington Stanley hosted and inflicted a first defeat of the season on league leaders Ipswich Town. The protagonist for Accrington's victory was undoubtedly Colby Bishop, as he scored both of the goals, with the latter of the two coming from the penalty spot. There was one statistic in which neither side could be separated, as both sides were reduced to 10 men as Ross Sykes and Armando Dobra were sent off for Accrington and Ipswich respectively due to an off the ball incident.
