Round-up: The weekend action in League 2 once again saw a clash between two of the top 3 sides, as Crewe Alexandra played hosts to Exeter City in a match where neither side could be separated as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw. Dean Moxey's goal after only 2 minutes gave Exeter the lead, before substitute Chuma Anene equalised in the 76th minute to earn Crewe a point. Cheltenham Town failed to take advantage of the two sides slipping up, as they too were held to a 1-1 draw away to Oldham Athletic as Ryan Broom's 71st minute goal cancelled out Filipe Morais' 9th minute strike which had put Oldham in front. One team who took full advantage of the top 3 sides slipping up was Forest Green Rovers, as they surged to the top of the table after they recorded a 3-1 victory at home to Crawley Town. Joseph Mills gave Forest Green the lead in the 24th minute as he scored the rebound after he saw his penalty saved, before they doubled the lead in the 52nd minute thanks to an Aaron Collins strike. Forest Green were then awarded another penalty in the 55th minute, which Mills this time converted at the first attempt, before Crawley scored what proved to be a mere consolation in the 58th minute thanks to a goal from Mason Bloomfield. Another team who moved into the top 3 were Newport County, as they recorded a slender 1-0 win over Carlisle United thanks to a dramatic 96th minute winner from George Nurse. Bradford City moved into the play-off places as they recorded a 2-1 win over Swindon Town thanks to a 77th minute winner from Shay McCartan after Jerry Yates had cancelled out Hope Akpan's earlier goal which had put Bradford in front. Stevenage remain bottom of the league as they suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Colchester United. Jason Cowley's 17th minute goal actually put Stevenage in front, though Colchester came from behind to win the match thanks to goals from Tom Eastman, a penalty by Frank Nouble which was shortly followed by a Kwame Poku goal. Scunthorpe United moved up from second bottom as they recorded a 2-2 draw away to Plymouth Argyle thanks to a late 93rd minute equaliser from Abobaker Eisa. A seventh minute goal from Alex Gilliead gave Scunthorpe, though Plymouth came from behind to lead thanks to a brace from defender Will Aimson, however, it was not enough to give them the victory as Eisa salvaged a point for Scunthorpe with a 93rd minute equaliser. Morecambe moved into second bottom as they suffered a 3-1 defeat as Port Vale came from behind to win thanks to a goal from Luke Joyce followed by a brace from captain Tom Pope, as Morecambe went down to 10 men as Jordan Cranston was shown a straight red card in the 32nd minute, which was undoubtedly a disappointment, especially as Morecambe had taken the lead in the 18th minute thanks to a goal from John O'Sullivan. Leyton Orient earned their first league win since the 20th August as they recorded a slender 1-0 victory away to Northampton Town thanks to a goal from James Brophy. Walsall's run of three successive victories came to an end as they lost 3-0 at home to Salford City thanks to goals from Luke Armstrong, Jake Jervis and Ibou Touray. Grimsby Town slipped out of the play-off places as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Mansfield Town thanks to a 96th minute from Krystian Pearce, despite the fact that Mansfield went down to 10 men after Hayden White was shown a straight red card in the 60th minute. Finally, Cambridge United and Macclesfield Town could not be separated in their clash as they played out a 2-2 draw, with Sam Smith scoring a 78th minute equaliser to salvage a point for Cambridge.
