Eredivisie season curtailed, no title awarded, no promotions and relegations to take place

The Eredivisie season will not be continued, meaning Hakim Ziyech has played his last game for Ajax before moving to Chelsea.

As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Dutch government have officially banned all public events, which includes even football taking place behind closed doors, until September 1st. Therefore, it was decided that the Eredivisie would not be continued, and, following a vote by 34 clubs which took place today, no league title will be awarded, whilst there will be no promotion and relegation between the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie (the Dutch second division).

However, following UEFA's Executive Committee meeting which took place yesterday, European qualification for next season (if that takes place at all given the current circumstances!) will be based on the current Eredivisie standings of this season before the season was halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the teams qualifying for Europe will be as follows: Champions League play-off round (may advance to group stage if Champions League winners qualify via league): Ajax Champions League second qualifying round: AZ Alkmaar

Europa League group stage: Feyenoord Europa League third qualifying round: PSV Eindhoven Europa League second qualifying round: Willem II

The decision regarding European qualifications for next season remains subject to approval/confirmation by UEFA.
