Charles Leclerc has secured his sixth pole position of the season, and fourth in a row in Russia.

Charles Leclerc has qualified in first place for the 2019 Russian Grand Prix, making it his fourth successive pole position. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton prevented a Ferrari 1-2 by producing a very good final lap to leapfrog Sebastian Vettel, who will start in third place. Red Bull's Max Verstappen qualified in fourth place, ahead of Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas who made a mistake on his final lap. However, Max Verstappen has a 5-place grid penalty which means it will be Bottas who starts in fourth place. Verstappen's team-mate, Alexander Albon crashed in the first part of qualifying and ended up qualifying second from last as he had not set a good enough time beforehand, whilst it is worth noting that Daniil Kvyat for Toro Rosso did not take part in qualifying as the team had to make an engine change.
