Round-up: After a 100-day hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Premier League has finally resumed, albeit with all matches taking place behind closed doors. The opening game of the Premier League resumption saw Aston Villa host Sheffield United, and in the end the sides played out a goalless draw. However, the biggest talking point regarding the non-award of a Sheffield United goal when it was clear that Aston Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland had carried the ball over the line, though the goal-line technology failed to pick it up. That said, although Sheffield United were denied a legitimate goal, a draw was a fair result overall.

The second game to take place on the first day of the Premier League resumption saw a mouthwatering clash between Manchester City and Arsenal. In the end, Manchester City produced a dominant performance in what turned out to be a 3-0 rout, as Raheem Sterling pounced on a David Luiz error to give Manchester City the lead. David Luiz then compounded his miserable time on the pitch by giving away a penalty for a last man foul on Riyad Mahrez which led to him getting sent off, and Kevin De Bruyne converted the resulting spot kick. The win was then wrapped up in the 90th minute thanks to a Phil Foden. It is worth noting that defenders Pablo Mari and Granit Xhaka both got injured for Arsenal (the former led to David Luiz being substituted onto the pitch), whilst Manchester City defender Eric Garcia suffered an injury after inadvertently colliding with his own goalkeeper Ederson, which did actually mean that Manchester City had to play out the last few minutes of the match with 10 men as they had already used their 5 substitutions.
