Round-up: After they suffered an opening day hammering at home to Manchester City, West Ham United have not lost since and have made an actually very impressive start to the season, and they continued that by recording a 2-0 victory at home to a very poor Manchester United side. It looked like the two sides would end the first half goalless, until Andriy Yarmolenko hit a well-placed shot in the bottom corner to put West Ham in front. It must be said that Manchester United hardly ever really looked like scoring, although Hammers goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski did have to make a save from close range to deny defender Harry Maguire from equalising. The win was then wrapped up six minutes from time thanks to a brilliantly struck free-kick from Aaron Cresswell, which means Manchester United are winless away from home in the league since the end of February. It seems as though Wolverhampton Wanderers are struggling to cope with the demands of Europa League football, as they remain without a win after six games, but despite going down to 10 men after Romain Saiss was shown two yellow cards, they did at least earn a point as Diogo Jota scored in the 90th minute to cancel out Leander Dendoncker's inadvertent earlier own goal which had given Crystal Palace the lead. There were two further matches which took place today, as league leaders Liverpool extended their 100% start to the season as they beat top six rival Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool went in front after 14 minutes thanks to a brilliant free-kick from right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. Chelsea had a big chance to equalise as Tammy Abraham had a 1v1 against Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian, but the finish was not Abraham's best and in fairness Adrian made a good save. The home side did have the ball in the net thanks to right-back Cesar Azpilicueta, but the goal was disallowed thanks to the VAR which correctly ruled that attacking midfielder Mason Mount was offside in the build-up. Liverpool took full advantage of that VAR call as not long after Roberto Firmino headed in from a brilliant free-kick, although it must be said that Chelsea's defending from the set-piece left a lot to be desired. Despite going 2 goals down, Chelsea did not give up at all and kept fighting on, and they did get back into the game thanks to a brilliant strike from N'Golo Kanté. Chelsea applied a lot of pressure on Liverpool, who it has to be said struggled, in the second half and had a couple of good chances which fell to Azpilicueta and Mount, but in the end Liverpool held on for their 15th consecutive league win either side of the summer. The other match which took place at the same time as Chelsea against Liverpool involved Arsenal and Aston Villa play out a 5-goal thriller. Aston Villa went in front in the 20th minute thanks to arguably their best player so far this season, John McGinn. If going behind was not bad enough for Arsenal, they were then reduced to 10 men as Ainsley Maitland-Niles was shown a second yellow card in the 41st minute. Arsenal were then handed a massive opportunity to equalise as Aston Villa defender Bjorn Engels fouled Matteo Guendouzi in the penalty area, and Nicolas Pepe calmly converted the resulting penalty to put Arsenal back on level terms. That only lasted for around a minute, however, as Aston Villa went straight back in front thanks to record signing Wesley's second league goal of the season. A mistake from Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings, who has otherwise began this season impressively it should be said, enabled Calum Chambers to equalise for Arsenal again in the 81st minute, before they scored the decisive fifth goal of the match 3 minutes later thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's free-kick.
