Round-up: The Premier League's seventh weekend of action came to a conclusion with two matches which took place, one yesterday and one today. In the first of those two matches, Leicester City absolutely demolished Newcastle United, who it must be said produced an absolutely diabolical performance in which they did not have a single attempt on target, in a 5-0 triumph. It took the Foxes just 16 minutes to go into the lead, and they did so thanks to a well-placed shot from outside the area by Ricardo Pereira, which was his second goal in as many matches. If falling behind was not bad enough for Newcastle, they then went down to 10 men as Isaac Hayden was shown a straight red card after an absolutely reckless tackle on Dennis Praet. Leicester then doubled their lead in the 54th minute thanks to Jamie Vardy's finish which beat goalkeeper Martin Dubravka at the near post - it must be pointed out here that Dubravka's starting position left a lot to be desired and that the goal could have been avoided if Dubravka had been in a better starting position in the first position. Leicester quickly extended their advantage thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Paul Dummett as he deflected a Dennis Praet cross into his own net in the 57th minute. Jamie Vardy bagged his second goal of the match thanks to a headed goal which made the scoreline 4-0, before the win was wrapped up in the 90th minute thanks to a rare goal from midfielder Wilfred Ndidi. Despite the fact that they went down to 10 men, which obviously did not help their cause, Newcastle were utterly pathetic in their performance and the lack of fight and desire they showed on the pitch would undoubtedly leave all at the club (namely supporters, the board and manager Steve Bruce) extremely concerned.

The second of those two games took place tonight as Manchester United hosted Arsenal at Old Trafford. In a match which was desperately lacking in quality, neither side could be separated as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw. After a rather dire first half, the home side took the lead thanks to a brilliant strike from midfielder Scott McTominay just outside the penalty area. After he was having a positive game, Axel Tuanzebe played a careless square pass to central defender Victor Lindelöf which resulted in possession for Arsenal, and Bukayo Saka played a through ball to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and he finished in composed fashion to equalise for Arsenal. However, rather inexplicably the linesman raised his flag for offside despite the fact that Aubameyang was clearly onside thanks to Harry Maguire - though the goal then stood thanks to an intervention from the VAR. The best chance for either side fell to McTominay for United from a corner kick, however, he headed the ball over and ultimately the match finished level.
