Round-up: The Premier League's weekend action began with league leaders Liverpool hosting bottom side Watford. In the end, the hosts did prevail in a 2-0 triumph thanks to a brace from Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, however, the match was not as comfortable as the scoreline suggested - Watford posed several problems for Liverpool who looked nervous at times it must be said, though, Watford seem incapable of scoring and on today's performance when presented with a chance to score, it is of little wonder as to why Watford lie at the foot of the table. Liverpool's closest chasers to the title so far this campaign, Leicester City, saw their run of eight successive league victories come to an end, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Norwich City. Teemu Pukki gave Norwich the lead in the 26th minute, before that was cancelled out by a Jamie Vardy header which Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul inadvertently diverted into his own net, and consequently Leicester's goal was credited as an own goal by Tim Krul, as Jamie Vardy's goalscoring run of eight consecutive matches was brought to an end, and with it Leicester's 8-match winning run too. On the other hand, AFC Bournemouth ended a run of five consecutive winless matches, as they recorded a 1-0 win at a suddenly out-of form Chelsea side, thanks to an 84th minute winning goal from Dan Gosling. Meanwhile, Burnley ended a run of three successive league defeats with a slender 1-0 win at home to Newcastle United thanks to a 58th minute goal from Chris Wood. In a clash between two of the promoted side, it was high-flying Sheffield United who prevailed, thanks to a John Fleck brace in a 2-0 triumph at home to Aston Villa, for whom Jack Grealish missed a penalty as he hit the bar. The action on Saturday came to a conclusion with a key clash down at the bottom, as Southampton hosted an out-of-form West Ham United. In the end, it was West Ham who prevailed in a 1-0 triumph thanks to a first-half goal from Sebastian Haller, whilst they also had a goal from Michail Antonio in the second half disallowed for handball in the build-up. It is a result which undoubtedly has helped ease pressure on West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini, whilst Southampton remain stuck in the relegation zone, behind Aston Villa (who are fourth-bottom) on goal difference.
