Round-up: The Premier League's weekend action began with Manchester United travelling to Southampton for a lunchtime kick-off. After a promising start by the hosts, it was Manchester United who took the lead thanks to a sensational Daniel James strike in the 10th minute. They then controlled the rest of the half, but had no more goals to show for it - and ultimately it may be argued that they paid the price, as after an improved second half performance from Southampton, they got rewarded with a 58th minute equaliser from Janik Vestergaard. Southampton's hopes of claiming a point seemingly took a hit as defender Kevin Danso was shown a second yellow card for a needless foul on Scott McTominay, but United were unable to take advantage of the fact that they had a man advantage and thus were held to a 1-1 draw. In the afternoon matches, Sheffield United produced a stunning comeback to earn a point away at Stamford Bridge. Tammy Abraham gave Chelsea a 2-0 lead thanks to two goals, both of which it must be said were poor from a Sheffield United point of view, as in the first one goalkeeper Dean Henderson had to do better, whilst in the second one defenders Jack O'Connell and John Egan went for the same ball after a lack of communication. Despite being two goals down going into half-time, Sheffield United fought back in impressive fashion, as Callum Robinson scored inside the opening minute of the second half, and after pushing and pushing in search of a second goal to get back them back on level terms, they were rewarded in the 89th minute after Robinson put in a beautiful cross which ultimately defender Kurt Zouma ended up putting into his own net. Reigning champions Manchester City continued to show that they will most certainly be in the mix once again for the title this season, as they recorded a dominant victory at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, who themselves actually played quite well. It took less than 100 seconds for Man City to take the lead thanks to a beautifully worked goal which was finished off by Kevin de Bruyne, and their lead was doubled 3 minutes before half-time thanks to an inevitable goal from Sergio Aguero, and he grabbed his second and Man City's third of the game ten minutes into the second half, before substitute Bernardo Silva wrapped up an impressive 4-0 win for the champions. The one negative note for the champions in such a brilliant performance was the loss of key defender Aymeric Laporte due to an injury. Leicester City continued their unbeaten and impressive start to the season by recording back-to-back wins, this time winning 3-1 at home to AFC Bournemouth thanks to a Jamie Vardy brace which was sandwiched by a Youri Tielemans goal, with the latter arguably lucky not to be sent off after an ugly-looking challenge. After recording a surprise win away to Manchester United last week, Crystal Palace made it back-to-back wins after securing a narrow 1-0 win over Aston Villa, who had wide midfielder Trezeguet sent off for two yellow cards, and also rather inexplicably had a goal disallowed for alleged simulation by Jack Grealish in the build-up. Another team who made it back-to-back wins, having got their first win of the season last week, were West Ham United, who won 2-0 at home to Norwich City thanks to goals from club-record signing Sebastian Haller and Andriy Yarmolenko. In addition to suffering defeat, Norwich saw defender Christoph Zimmermann suffer an injury which has continued to deplete their defensive options further still. Watford earned their first point of the season away to Newcastle United in a 1-1 draw. Will Hughes made amends for his awful miss last week by giving the Hornets the lead inside the opening two minutes, before Newcastle defender Fabian Schar equalised four minutes before half-time, even though the goal could and perhaps should have been disallowed for an alleged handball in the build-up. In the evening kick-off, last season's runners-up and current league leaders Liverpool extended their 100% start to the season as they beat Burnley 3-0 in a comfortable away win, making it a club-record 13 consecutive league wins. Trent Alexander-Arnold saw a cross deflected and it went in to give Liverpool the lead in freak circumstances - the goal in fact went down as a Chris Wood own goal. It did not take long for Liverpool to double their lead, either, as four minutes later a Ben Mee mistake led to a Liverpool counter-attack which was ruthlessly finished by Sadio Mané. The win was then wrapped up ten minutes from time thanks to a goal from Roberto Firmino, which made him the first Brazilian striker ever to reach 50 Premier League goals.
