Round-up: The Premier League action which took place today began with 3 matches all kicking off simultaneously, and arguably the stand-out result was that Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded a shock 2-0 win away to reigning champions Manchester City thanks to an Adama Traore brace which came in the last ten minutes and thus handed Wolves back-to-back victories. As a result of this defeat, the champions already lie 8 points behind league leaders and last season's runners-up, Liverpool. Arsenal, meanwhile, moved up into third place in the league as they recorded a slender 1-0 victory at home to AFC Bournemouth thanks to a 9th minute goal from defender David Luiz. The last of the 3 matches which kicked off today's action saw Chelsea record an impressive and richly-deserved 4-1 triumph away to Southampton. Tammy Abraham has made the step up to Premier League football in impressive fashion so far, and continued his form as he put Chelsea in front in the 17th minute with a calm lob over goalkeeper Angus Gunn, and Maya Yoshida's clearance was insufficient as the ball had already crossed the line. The lead was then doubled after some lovely build-up play which culminated in a finish from Mason Mount. Southampton did half the deficit thanks to a 30th minute goal from Danny Ings, though Chelsea restored their two-goal lead 10 minutes later thanks to an N'golo Kanté strike which took a massive deflection. The win was then wrapped up thanks to a goal in the 89th minute from substitute Michy Batshuayi, which capped off an impressive display by a Chelsea side who are making considerable strides forward under manager Frank Lampard. The Premier League's weekend action came to a conclusion with Newcastle United hosting Manchester United. In the end, the home side triumphed thanks to a slender 1-0 victory after a goal from Matty Longstaff who was making his first senior start for the club, in a match which arguably Newcastle deserved the win as Manchester United were utterly appalling as most of their players showed an extreme lack of desire or care. As a result, Manchester United now lie only 2 points above the relegation zone which will be undoubtedly of huge concern to the club.
