Round-up:
The Premier League's weekend action began in East Anglia, as Norwich City hosted Brighton & Hove Albion, in a clash between two sides down towards the bottom of the table. In the end, it was Brighton who triumphed in a 1-0 victory thanks to a first half goal from Leandro Trossard, in a result which increases the probability of Norwich being relegated, whilst on the other hand this result eases Brighton's relegation concerns.
The action today was heavily focussed on the sides battling to make it into Europe for next season. Leicester City earned their first win since the resumption of the season and ended a poor run of form, as they recorded a 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace, thanks to a Kelechi Iheanacho goal followed by a Jamie Vardy brace, which means that Vardy has now surpassed the milestone of 100 Premier League goals scored. It was just as well that Leicester won today, as Manchester United kept up the pressure on the top 4 places after they came back from 1-0 down to beat struggling AFC Bournemouth 5-2. In what was a shock, AFC Bournemouth remarkably took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to Junior Stanislas. However, that lead lasted less than 15 minutes as Mason Greenwood equalised for Manchester United thanks to a brilliant finish. Manchester United then took the lead in the 35th minute as they awarded a penalty after a handball by AFC Bournemouth defender Adam Smith, which was calmly converted by striker Marcus Rashford, before Anthony Martial bagged a third goal for the hosts right before half-time. After some sloppy defending and play from Manchester United, AFC Bournemouth were awarded a penalty after an Eric Bailly handball, and Joshua King converted the resulting spot kick to make the score 3-2 after 49 minutes. AFC Bournemouth had the ball in the net once more not long after thanks to Arnaut Danjuma, however, the goal was correctly ruled out for offside, and 5 minutes after the second penalty in the game, Manchester United restored their two goal lead thanks to another brilliant goal from youngster Mason Greenwood, before Bruno Fernandes wrapped up the scoring for the hosts thanks to a brilliant free kick. After going eight league games unbeaten either side of the lockdown, Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered defeat, as they lost 2-0 at home to Arsenal thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette, in what was an extremely lacklustre performance from the hosts. Finally, today's action concluded in West London, as Chelsea bounced back from their disappointing defeat away to West Ham on Wednesday with an impressive 3-0 win at home to struggling Watford, thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Willian from the penalty spot, and Ross Barkley towards the end of the match - in a win which ensured Chelsea maintained their top four place in the table.
