The summer transfer deadline date for Premier League clubs has once again shifted to the very end of August.

In a meeting between the shareholders' current clubs, it was agreed that the transfer window for Premier League clubs would once again close at the end of August (for this year, it shall close on Tuesday 1st September at 18:00 CEST, since Monday 31st August is a Bank Holiday in the UK), after in the last two seasons the window closed on the Thursday before the start of the season. Speaking of the start of the season, it was also confirmed in the shareholders' meeting that the 2020/21 Premier League season would kick-off on the weekend of the 8th August, less than a month after the final of the 2020 UEFA European Championship (which takes place on the 12th July).

A statement from the Premier League confirming the change in transfer window read: "Vote at Shareholders' Meeting moves the closing date back to the end of August/early September.

At a Shareholders’ Meeting today, Premier League clubs voted to adopt a change to the Summer Transfer Window closing date for season 2020/21.

This will move the closing date back to the traditional point at the end of August/early September.

The 2020 closing date will therefore be 17:00 BST on 1 September (31 August 2020 being a UK Bank Holiday).

Clubs agreed after discussing the topic at length at previous Shareholders' Meetings." A statement confirming the start date of the 2020/21 season read: "The next campaign is due to begin on Saturday 8 August 2020.

The starting date of the Premier League's 2020/21 season has been confirmed.

The 29th campaign of the competition will take place from Saturday 8 August 2020.

Other key dates for the season will be announced in due course."
