Results: Watford 2 Manchester United 0 Tottenham Hotspur 0 Chelsea 2

Round-up: The last day of Premier League action before Christmas saw two matches take place, starting with bottom side Watford hosting Manchester United. After a poor first half which saw no goals from either side, Watford took the lead thanks to Ismaila Sarr's 50th minute goal after a huge error from Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. Another error was committed by Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as he mistimed a tackle on Sarr which led to Watford being awarded a penalty, and Troy Deeney stepped up to convert the resulting spot kick and seal a 2-0 win for the home side. This is Watford's first home win of the season, and only their second this campaign - though this undoubtedly gives them hope in their battle for survival despite lying bottom of the table at Christmas. The final Premier League game before Christmas was an entertaining clash, as Tottenham Hotspur hosted Chelsea in a London derby which saw José Mourinho (former Chelsea manager) face former player Frank Lampard, now current Chelsea manager. In the end, it was Lampard who prevailed as Chelsea produced an impressive performance which saw them take all 3 points in a 2-0 triumph thanks to a brace from Willian, with his second goal coming from the penalty spot. As if the defeat was not bad enough, Tottenham saw Heung-min Son following a needless stamp on Antonio Rüdiger, who was then later subjected to disgraceful racial abuse from a Tottenham supporter, which led to referee Anthony Taylor temporarily halting the game and speaking to the fourth official as well as both managers.
