Round-up: The Premier League midweek round of fixtures continued with 5 matches on Wednesday, all of which had an impact either on the title race (if one does still exist), the battle for Europe as well as the relegation fight. In the battle for Europe, Manchester United recorded an impressive 3-0 triumph at home to a Sheffield United side who, it is fair to say have been rather disappointing since the season restarted. The goals came all thanks to French striker Anthony Martial, who bagged his first senior hat-trick and Manchester United's first Premier League hat-trick since Sir Alex Ferguson retired as the club's manager way back in 2013. Wolverhampton Wanderers kept up the pressure on Manchester United in fifth place, as they recorded a slender 1-0 victory at home to a struggling AFC Bournemouth side thanks to a 60th minute header from striker Raul Jimenez thanks to a cross from winger Adama Traore, in a goal pretty similar to the one Jimenez scored in Wolves' 2-0 win away at West Ham last Saturday. As a consequence of this result, AFC Bournemouth remain in the relegation zone thanks to their inferior goal difference compared to West Ham United. Aston Villa earned themselves what could prove to be a crucial point away at Newcastle United, as Ahmed Elmohamady's 83rd minute header from a corner cancelled out Dwight Gayle's 68th minute goal which had given Newcastle the lead. This result does mean that Aston Villa remain in the relegation zone, however, they are now level on points with both West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth, although with inferior goal difference to both of the sides mentioned. Everton also recorded a narrow 1-0 victory thanks to a Michael Keane goal, away at Norwich City, whose survival prospects are becoming slimmer by the minute.

Finally, Wednesday's action came to a conclusion at Anfield, as league leaders Liverpool hosted Crystal Palace. After a rather dismal performance on Sunday in the Merseyside derby, this time Liverpool were absolutely dominant and recorded an impressive 4-0 demolition thanks to goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mané - although at times the defending from Crystal Palace left a lot to be desired. As a consequence of this win, Manchester City now must beat Chelsea in their next game, otherwise Liverpool will officially be confirmed as Premier League champions.
