Round-up:
The Serie A began last week with some interesting results and matches, and the second weekend of action began on Friday night when Bologna hosted SPAL 2013. After they drew their first match of the season away to newly-promoted Hellas Verona, the home side maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign and earned their first league win of the season in the process thanks to a 1-0 victory when Roberto Soriano scored a 90th-minute winner, a win which also gives a boost to manager Sinisa Mihajlovic who is currently battling leukemia. There were then two matches which were played on Saturday. After suffering a disappointing opening day defeat away to Udinese, AC Milan bounced back with a slender 1-0 win at home to newly-promoted Brescia with a goal from Turkey international Hakan Calhanoglu after just 12 minutes. The second match played on Saturday evening was arguably the match of the weekend, as reigning champions Juventus hosted last season's runners-up Napoli. Initially, things were going very well for Juventus, as in the sixteenth minute they took the lead thanks to Danilo who had just come on as a substitute for right-back Mattia De Sciglio, and they doubled the lead just 3 minutes later thanks to a goal from much-maligned striker Gonzalo Higuain. In the second half, then Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first league goal of this season to put Juventus 3-0 in front. However, Napoli fought back impressively afterwards. In the 66th minute, Kostas Manolas got one back, and just two minutes later Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano, signed recently from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, scored his first Napoli goal to make the score 3-2. Napoli did manage to complete the comeback, as right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo, signed from Empoli in the summer, scored in the 81st minute to remarkably level the score. It looked as though the teams would have to take a share of the spoils, until in the 90th minute Kalidou Koulibaly scored a sensational own goal to gift Juventus' fourth goal of the game which would ensure the champions ultimately came out on top. The first match played on Sunday may very well have rivalled Juventus v Napoli for match of the weekend, as Lazio and AS Roma contested the first Roman derby of the season. In the end, neither side claimed the bragging rights, as Luis Alberto's goal for Lazio in the 58th minute cancelled out Aleksandar Kolarov's earlier penalty for Roma. There were six matches that then took place on Sunday evening. Inter Milan came out on top away to Cagliari in a 2-1 win. Lautaro Martinez gave Inter the lead in the 27th minute, before Joao Pedro equalised for the team from Sardegna. Inter were later awarded a penalty, which Romelu Lukaku converted to make it two goals in two games since signing for the Italian side. Torino extended their 100% start to the season after coming out on top in a five-goal thriller away at Atalanta. It was a defender, Kevin Bonifazi, who would score the opening goal which gave Torino the lead in the 24th minutes. Around a quarter of hour later, Duvan Zapata equalised for Atalanta, and just under ten minutes after half-time he bagged his second goal of the game to put them in front. Their lead lasted a mere 3 minutes, however, as Alex Berenguer equalised for Torino, before 9 minutes Armando Izzo scored Torino's third goal which gave them the victory. In a clash between two newly-promoted sides, it was Hellas Verona who came out on top in a slender 1-0 win away to Lecce thanks to an 81st minute goal from Matteo Pessina. Parma bounced back from their defeat at home to Juventus last week by coming from behind to record an impressive 3-1 win away to Udinese. Kevin Lasagna gave Udinese the lead in the 17th minute, before Gervinho equalised two minutes before half-time, and then two goals from Riccardo Gagilolo and Roberto Inglese in the second half secured the win for Parma. Eusebio Di Francesco's poor start in charge of Sampdoria continued, as they suffered a humbling 4-1 defeat away to Sassuolo. It must be said that key to this win for Sassuolo was Domenico Berardi, who bagged a hat-trick in just a quarter of an hour before half-time, and to make matters worse for Sampdoria, they were reduced to 10 men right on the stroke of half-time as Ronaldo Vieira was shown a straight red card. Hamed Junior Traore made it four for the hosts just two minutes after half-time, before Fabio Quagliarella scored a consolation goal for Sampdoria via the penalty spot. Fiorentina still remain without any points, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Genoa thanks to goals from Cristian Zapata and Christian Kouame, before Erick Pulgar scored what proved to be a mere consolation for Fiorentina via the penalty spot.
