Aston Villa have completed the signing of defender Tyrone Mings from AFC Bournemouth on a permanent basis, having spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, in a deal worth up to a reported £26.5m.
A club statement read:
"Aston Villa is delighted to announce the signing of Tyrone Mings from AFC Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old defender arrives on a permanent deal having spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park.
Mings quickly became a fans’ favourite during his temporary stint, helping Villa clinch promotion to the Premier League, making 18 appearances and contributing two goals along the way as the team went on a record-breaking 10-match winning run.
Head Coach Dean Smith said: “We’re really pleased to have Tyrone back at Aston Villa on a permanent basis. I think everybody could see the connection that he made with the club as a whole and it is excellent news that we can continue the relationship in the Premier League. “He will be an integral part of the squad for the new season and I look forward to working with him and helping to further develop his game.”
Mings will join the rest of the squad on the US Tour which begins later this week.
The new home kit will be on pre-order later this week and on sale on Wednesday 17th July.
That will tie in with first team playing in the kit for the first time in Minnesota on our US Tour."
